Price change for Chrome education and nonprofit upgrade

The price increase for both Chrome Education Upgrade and Chrome Nonprofit Upgrade is happening.
Starting March 9, 2021, Google will raise the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of both SKUs from $30 to $38 per device license in the U.S.
If you feel like you’ve heard this announcement before, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Let us explain.
Wasn’t this price increase supposed to occur in 2020?
Yes.
Google originally announced these price hikes back in January 2020, slated to go into effect on March 9, 2020. It was then pushed to January 2021. However, after another delay, it is officially happening on March 9, 2021.
What is the reason for the price increase?
Per Google, the price increase reflects the ongoing innovation and value the company has added to Chrome OS over the past few years. It also factors in the “hundreds of policies” on the horizon.
Furthermore, Google is refreshing its Chrome OS Automatic Update Expiration (AUE) policy. Along with the 24/7 support, security and feature updates will be provided for a longer period.
How can you prepare for this?
The good news is you don’t have to just sit on your hands. You can purchase the SKUs now – or any time before the deadline – at the lower price and save them for later. Also consider looking into what grants might be available to help you fund the project.
