SHI’s Austin office named one of city’s best places to work

That’s right: SHI’s local office was once again recognized as one of the city’s best large employers by the Austin American-Statesman. Our Austin office employs nearly 1,000 people, and serves as the epicenter of corporate and SMB sales. The Austin office is SHI’s second largest office, after our world headquarters in New Jersey.

The Austin American-Statesman’s Top Workplace designation is based on an anonymous employee survey – sent to employees by the Statesman – that measures workplace qualities such as company leadership and direction, employee engagement, career opportunities, working environment and training, communications, and compensation.

SHI employees highlighted the positive work environment, competitive pay and benefits, and strong local leadership in the survey. They also praised the opportunities for advancement, rewards for hard work, supportive and empowering team leaders, and SHI’s culture.

SHI’s Q3 revenue jumps on strong legacy and emerging partner performance

Earnings ReleaseSHI’s Q3 was yet another stellar three months: The company’s quarterly revenue of $1.7 billion (a 14 percent year-over-year increase) pushes up our 2015 revenue to $4.7 billion – a record for the first nine months of a calendar year. In Q3, legacy partners like Microsoft, Dell, Adobe, Symantec, HP, and Cisco continued to perform very strongly. Our emerging partners — Lenovo, Apple, Tableau, and Pure Storage – were the top incremental new revenue drivers, which highlights the trend we’re seeing of customers investing in big data/business analytics tools, as well as flash storage and mobility solutions. SHI wins 2 Cisco Partner of the Year awards, preps for new Cisco growth

connected worldCisco is building on its traditional dominance in networking, and evolving its strategy to meet customer demand for cloud, security, big data, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. At the Cisco Partner Summit last week in Montreal, Cisco executives acknowledged this shift by often categorizing the organization as a “software company,” and pointing to consumption models supporting IoT, hybrid IT, and software as the forces that would drive future growth.

This pivot in the overall Cisco offering places increased importance on a continually strengthening SHI-Cisco partnership. SHI grew its Cisco business 24 percent in 2014, making Cisco a top-10 SHI partner for the first time, and early returns on 2015 suggest the pace is quickening. SHI earns Microsoft’s Operational Excellence Award for the 11th consecutive year

MicrosoftSHI is proud to announce it has won Microsoft’s Operational Excellence Award for the 11th consecutive year, and 13th time overall. This honor is bestowed on partners that have demonstrated “market-leading operational excellence” in support of Microsoft technology and solutions.

SHI’s goal has always been to help our customers maximize their investment in technology and better manage their IT environments by educating them about the Microsoft products, licensing scenarios, and updates that could have the biggest impact on their organization. We help them connect with these technologies and make educated IT decisions through our series of Microsoft webinars and blog posts about licensing changes and what they mean for customers old and new. We’re proud to once again be recognized for these efforts!

We’d like to extend a big thank you and congratulations to the SHI employees integral to this win. We could not have achieved this award for 11 consecutive years without your hard work and dedication. SHI revenue growth and leadership recognized by CRN

It’s award season over at CRN, and we’re proud to say that SHI’s achievements are once again being recognized.

This morning CRN released its 2014 Solution Provider 500 list, which ranks the top VARs, solution providers, and integrators in North America, based on revenue. SHI’s been steadily climbing up this list over the past few years, and today CRN revealed that we jumped up two spots from last year, to the number 15 position.

And last week, Thai Lee was named to the CRN 2014 Women of the Channel List and recognized as one of this year’s Power 50 Solution Providers. The annual Women of the Channel list highlights the accomplishments of female executives within vendor, distribution, and solution provider organizations and the impact they are having on the advancement of the IT channel. The Power 50 honors an elite subset of female executives at solution provider organizations who are extending their respective company’s sphere of influence as trusted advisers.

We’re excited that Thai’s and, for that matter, all SHI employees’ hard work and dedication to growing our company and building strong relationships with our customers has been recognized. With a record-breaking start to 2014, we’re on pace to continue our strong growth and add a few more feathers to our cap next year.

SHI receives 2 Cisco Partner of the Year awards

At the Cisco Partner Summit 2014 in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago, Cisco presented SHI with two Partner Summit Global awards: Meraki Partner of the Year, Americas and New Break Away Partner of the Year, Americas.

Cisco is a large growth area for SHI, especially as we reinforce our focus on data centers, networking, and collaboration. In 2013, we grew our Cisco business 119 percent among corporate and small and medium-sized businesses, and 244 percent in Meraki.

In addition, growth spanned all of Cisco’s architectures:

  • Collaboration revenue increased 55 percent in 2013.
  • Data center revenue increased 137 percent in 2013.
  • Enterprise networking revenue increased 33 percent in 2013.
  • Security revenue increased 55 percent in 2013.

SHI has stepped up to meet the growing demand for Cisco products. In the past year, we doubled our investment in dedicated Cisco pre-sales resources by adding Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)-level solution architects, pre-sales engineers, and SMARTnet management specialists and training each of them to provide the world-class customer experience that SHI has become known for during the past 25 years.

SHI named HP PartnerOne Global Reseller of the Year

Late yesterday at the 2014 HP Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas, HP presented SHI its PartnerOne Award for Global Reseller of the Year. As we noted in our official press release, SHI was recognized for “driving growth through innovation, strong teamwork, and overall commitment to excellence.”

We could not be more proud of this achievement. Echoing the sentiments of SHI CEO Thai Lee, this award is a tangible representation of the strength of one of SHI’s longest and most strategic partnerships. Here I’ll dive a little deeper into exactly what that means.

SHI grew our overall HP business by 20 percent year over year in 2013 by remaining committed to offering as diverse a portfolio of HP product lines as possible to both new and existing customers in North America and beyond. Our growth spanned each HP segment, including the HP Enterprise Group (including Servers and Storage), HP Networking and Services, HP Software (including Vertica and TippingPoint), as well as HP Printing and Personal Systems.

And yes, despite the never-ending reports of the demise of PC sales, SHI’s sales of HP notebooks and PCs were up as well. Continue Reading…

SHI named VMware Solution Provider Partner of the Year

VMware Solution Provider Partner of the Year Award I’m proud to share that this week at VMware Partner Exchange 2014, SHI received the Solution Provider Partner of the Year Award. This is the sixth VMware Partner of the Year Award we have won during the last several years — an indication of the strength and maturity of our VMware partnership.

2013 was a strong year for our relationship with VMware. We became one of the first partners to offer VMware vCloud Hybrid Service (vCHS) and, in fact, booked the first ever vCHS order! The addition of this service to our portfolio of VMware virtualization and cloud solutions no doubt contributed to SHI’s 44 percent increase in VMware revenue in 2013.

Equally impressive is the commitment we made to developing and training VMware support personnel. SHI currently has on staff:

  • 25+ VMware Certified Professional (VCP) — certified engineers and architects
  • 50+ VMware Technical Solutions Professional (VTSP) — certified sales resources
  • 500+ VMware Sales Professional (VSP) — inside and outside sales

SHI wins fourth consecutive Dell DMR Partner of the Year award

It’s a re-gifted holiday season here at SHI, and we couldn’t be happier! For the fourth consecutive year, Dell has re-gifted SHI the DMR Partner of the Year award.

SHI’s VP/GM of Corporate Sales Hal Jagger (CENTER) was on site at Dell World 2013 to accept the award on SHI’s behalf.

The award recognizes Dell partners for top line revenue, enterprise revenue growth, and best-in-class execution of programs and demand generation. In 2013, SHI’s Dell revenue grew 17 percent year over year, driven by demand for Dell laptops, desktops, servers, and storage solutions. Quest Software accounted for nearly 10 percent of SHI’s overall Dell business, finishing as our top Dell Software product group.

We’re honored to accept this award and proud of what it represents — SHI’s ability to connect organizations with the Dell hardware and software needed to improve their businesses. For the 10th consecutive year, Microsoft has named SHI a winner of its Platinum Level Operational Excellence Award. This is the 12th time SHI has received the honor, which is given to partners who have demonstrated “market-leading operational excellence” in support of the delivery, deployment, and maintenance of Microsoft technology.

SHI is committed to educating our customers on the Microsoft products, licensing scenarios, and updates they need to be aware of to efficiently manage their tech environments. Through informative blog posts on new software licensing options, hands-on introductions to Microsoft technologies, and our ever-expanding portfolio of Microsoft devices, we strive to help organizations make educated IT purchasing decisions and connect them with the technologies best suited to their needs. We are proud to once again be recognized for these efforts!
