Smarter choices, stronger impact: Learn how our commitments and actions are helping SHI become a more sustainable organization.

We are pleased to share our third annual Sustainability and Action Report, which summarizes SHI’s collective efforts and commitments towards becoming a more sustainable organization.
“Embracing sustainability supports our growth objectives, enhances operational efficiency, reduces risk, and fosters greater employee engagement and pride,” said President and CEO Thai Lee.
How did SHI approach sustainability in 2024?
Sustainability is embedded within SHI’s business strategy; it’s essential for ensuring our future resilience and operational efficiency. In 2024, we structured our sustainability strategy around four key material areas: products, planet, people, and principles. This strategy is aligned with our overall business structure, which helps us assist customers in making smarter, more sustainable choices.
2024 sustainability initiatives
- Governance structure: We’ve enhanced our governance structure, splitting responsibility between a senior-level Sustainability Committee, a centralized ESG team within Finance, and a cross-departmental working group to share responsibilities and expertise.
- Energy efficiency and recycling: The lifecycle carbon emissions of the hardware products we sold went down by 16 percent, and we’ve increased the number of customer devices that are recycled or remarketed by 72 percent.
- Greenhouse gas reduction: We’ve decreased our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by two percent and decreased our water consumption by 22 percent.
- Partner policy: We updated our Partner Code of Conduct and Sustainability Policy and are implementing a platform for conducting sustainability due diligence on our vendors.
- More robust accounting: We moved to activity-based accounting for product-related GHG emissions, expanding the scope and detail of our carbon data.
2024 sustainability achievements
- Science Based Targets initiative: In early 2025, SBTi validated SHI’s near-term climate targets.
- EcoVadis silver medal: We retained our EcoVadis silver medal while increasing our score by nine points, putting SHI in the top 15 percent of all companies assessed.
- Industry awards: We were named Canalys’ North America Sustainability Channel Partner of the Year, Ingram Micro’s Sustainability Leader of the Year, and Dell Technologies’ Q4 FY24 ESG Spotlight Partner — North America.
- Diversity recognition: SHI was named on the 2024 Forbes Best Employers for Diversity and Newsweek Greatest Workplaces for Diversity lists.
What’s next?
- Decarbonization: We will continue implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to support our goal of reducing scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030. Additionally, we will keep offering our customers energy-efficient hardware solutions and providing information on product carbon footprints, empowering them to make more sustainable choices.
- Supplier due diligence platform: In 2024, we decided to enhance our supplier reviews by implementing an AI-enabled platform to conduct sustainability due diligence on our supplier base. The platform will allow us to understand our suppliers’ risk profiles by aggregating information from risk resources, third-party databases, supplier communication, and adverse news.
- Supplier engagement: Our primary goal for supplier engagement is to have 70% of suppliers by spend establish science-based climate targets by 2029. Since at least 60% of our suppliers by spend either already have science-based targets or commitments to set them, we will focus on the remaining suppliers to help them understand the importance of setting science-based targets and provide necessary support.
