The CIC is an 8,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility at SHI’s corporate headquarters in Somerset, New Jersey.

It contains a set of diverse labs where customers, partners, and employees can design, build, demonstrate, deploy, and validate technology solutions that transform organizations.

Our focus areas include computing, storage, networking, cybersecurity, automation, cloud, extended reality (XR), AI, IoT, and more.

Backed by a multidisciplinary team of IT professionals, the SHI Customer Innovation Center supports hundreds of organizations annually and can help you take the guesswork out of decision-making.

Core offerings

We understand that evaluating the latest technologies can be cost-prohibitive and operationally inefficient for many organizations. The CIC helps alleviate these pain points by providing your team with the platforms, resources, and services they need.

Product and integrated solution demonstrations

We deliver a brief overview of a product or solution’s features and capabilities, followed by a live presentation of the software interfaces to provide a practical understanding of how it works. Demos are available on demand and can be delivered in as little as thirty minutes.

Proofs of Concept (POCs)

Verify that certain concepts or features have the potential for real-world application. POCs may include a single test plan with success criteria and can be carried out in just a few hours or over multiple days. If your POC is successful, you can opt to conduct some additional testing via a pilot before moving the solution into production.

Pilots and sandbox environments

These include product comparisons, design validation, benchmarking, multivendor solution evaluations, and more. They can be utilized for several days up to multiple weeks and are a popular way to explore new ideas, examine alternate configurations, conduct break/fix testing, or gain hands-on experience with bleeding-edge technologies outside of your normal operating environment.

We provide empty rack space, power, cooling, and VPN access for all pilots. You can choose to bring your own gear or work with the appropriate manufacturers to procure the resources required for your project.

Each pilot includes an initial rollout of a system into simulated production, targeting a limited scope of the intended final solution. The scope may be limited by the number of users, business processes, partners involved, or other restrictions as appropriate. If the pilot is deemed a success, you can move the environment into production and roll it out to your end-user community.

Testing services

We can perform a variety of testing on your behalf, including comparison, functional, unit, performance, benchmark, stress, upgrade, migration, and end-to-end. This enables your organization to:
