Our second Sustainability and Action Report is now published. It covers SHI’s commitments and progress toward becoming a more sustainable organization and summarizes the collective achievements of business teams, functions, and individuals across SHI.

“At SHI, sustainability is a guiding principle that shapes our strategy, operations, and relationships. Throughout our history, SHI has helped our customers select, source, and manage technology to meet their business goals, and we aim to support their sustainability climate and broader sustainability objectives as well.”
– Thai Lee, CEO

The report introduces SHI’s science-based climate targets for Scopes 1, 2, and 3 over the next five years, pending validation by SBTi. These targets demonstrate our commitment to reducing GHG emissions and aiding our customers in their decarbonization efforts.

Additionally, the report covers our commitments and performance regarding material sustainability topics, such as climate, environmental protection, DEI, employee safety and well-being, community investment, and business ethics. We provide examples of concrete sustainability actions SHI has taken, such as doubling the capacity of solar PV panels at our Ridge Integration Center, investing in employee training, and supporting local communities.

Key sustainability initiatives for SHI in 2023

In 2023, we enhanced our sustainability management approach, disclosure, and stakeholder engagement processes. Key initiatives and achievements include:

  • Inaugural Sustainability and Action Report: We published our first external report, detailing an inventory of key sustainability policies, activities, and metrics, and we are continuing this process with this second report.
  • Sustainability Committee: We formed a Sustainability Committee to drive greater focus, strategic direction, and accountability for sustainability across the organization.
  • Reporting integrity: We improved our reporting, including an independent review of our GHG inventory and continuous system enhancement of data collection automation.
  • CDP performance: Our CDP efforts were rewarded with an improved rating of C, in line with the average score for specialized professional services and North America. We anticipate further improvement with the adoption of our climate targets in 2024.
  • EcoVadis Silver score: We achieved a 20% increase in our overall EcoVadis score.
  • Customer engagement: We hosted our first Sustainability Summit, fostering dialogue and collaboration with our customers and partners. It was a tremendous success all around, as we shared and learned from our joint efforts.

Looking ahead, we are developing our near-term climate targets and submitting them for validation with SBTi.
